Maritime Containers

THE MARITIME TRANSPORT CONTAINER

It is a permanent container, easy to fill and empty, capable of ensuring repeated use, without breaking the load in case of transshipment between different transport vehicles.

In this versatility the exponential growth of cargo volumes in international trade has been based.

The container is the freight transport unit (UTC) that allows you to move most of the world merchandise traffic.

There are models of containers for every need of transport, all of them are stackable and are provided with devices that allow its horizontal or vertical manipulation, and its subjection to the transport vehicle or other containers.
The most usual container sizes are 45, 40 and 20 feet, and large capacity.

The unit of measure of the container is the TEU (acronym for Twenty-foot equivalent units), which is equivalent to 20 feet (6.10 meters).

The global capacities of ships, container terminals or port movements of goods are measured by the TEUs.

It is the most frequently used container for loading dry and palletized general merchandise, boxes, barrels, etc. It is tight and closed, with floor, ceiling and side walls and rigid ends. It is equipped with doors in the front and is loaded through them with the help of trucks or pallet trucks, it is made of steel.
Thermal container capable of keeping the merchandise at a temperature of up to –30 ºC. It has a refrigerating device to maintain the desired temperature in a self-sufficient way, at the same time that it can be connected to the ship, the transport vehicle or the terminal to obtain the power supply that allows its operation. Some refrigeration containers also control the degree of humidity inside. They are suitable for transporting perishable goods: meat, fruit, etc. It is manufactured in aluminum or aluminum and stainless steel.
Container that does not have a rigid roof, which allows it to be loaded by cranes and covered with a flexible and mobile cover, such as a reinforced plastic tarp or a removable rigid sheet, for example. It can have doors on the front or side panels, and is especially useful for large loads, such as glass, marble, building material, wood or large volume machinery, it is made of steel.

Container formed by a platform, without any other superstructure. It is used when the characteristics of the elements to be transported do not fit with those of any other type of container, and is especially suitable for heavy and large volume elements, such as machinery, cables, drums, coils and sheets of steel, heavy vehicles or forest products, sand manufactures in steel.

When the merchandise to be loaded, due to its length, is difficult to handle through the tester, a container opened on one or both sides is used to facilitate the operation. It is especially suitable for loading and unloading at railway stations, built in steel.

It is used to transport liquid bulk (oil, plastics, resins, latex, milk, beer, wine, mineral water, etc.) and some dangerous substances, such as toxic, corrosive and highly flammable liquids. It consists of an aluminum or stainless steel tank anchored in a frame or support structure with the necessary accessories for its lashing in the anchors of ships, vehicles and wagons, or to stack it on another container.
